PPP35040: Sherman Heavy Armour 1946

Paper Panzer Productions 35040 Sherman Heavy Armour

(Warning: What if; this is not based on any documents)
As the war progressed the US and British army had to admit that the armour on the Sherman tank was largely insufficient to withstand impacts from German tank and anti-tank guns. In order to increase the chance of survival on the battlefield an upgrade program was launched. A reinforced hull was created and mated to the reinforced transmission housing that had already been developed. The additional armour package that previously had been proposed by Chrysler was dusted off and perfected. The turret also received a revamp with a much heavier gun mantlet and thick armour plates that were bolted and welded to the turret. Because of the additional weight of the whole package only M4A3E8 Shermans aka Easy Eights were used.

The upgrade is intended for the Tamiya M4A3E8 Easy Eight. The package contains the reinforced transmission housing, a new hull, a reinforced gun mantlet and the additional turret armour.
